Peter is the founding partner of Smith and Partners, having established the firm in 1988. With over 50 years’ experience in legal practice, he now serves as a consultant, offering specialist advice to long-standing commercial and trust clients. While he continues to support select matters, Peter encourages clients to engage with the talented team of lawyers now leading the firm.

A negotiator at heart, Peter has built a reputation for helping clients resolve legal issues through practical, business-minded solutions. His passion for mediation spans more than four decades, and he is an approved LEADR mediator under the Resolution Institute model. Peter has successfully mediated disputes across a wide range of areas, including relationship property, trusts, estates, construction, and contract interpretation.

Peter remains committed to expanding his mediation practice and welcomes new appointments. His track record speaks for itself—he has never been part of an unsuccessful mediation.
