Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Pūkenga, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Whakaue
A passion for helping people drew Eddie to the practice of law, and this passion is evident in the care and rigour he brings to his work. Eddie seeks to create a partnership with clients, taking time to fully understand each individual situation, and tailoring legal solutions to suit. His personable and approachable attitude enables clients to easily communicate their needs, ensuring the process is stress free.
Eddie has extensive multi-disciplinary experience, including property law, employment law and commercial law, and a growing Maori business law practice. A pre-law background in retail management gives Eddie unique insights into real-world business issues and a true understanding of how to provide excellent customer service.
Raised in the Bay of Plenty on Te Rereatukahia Pa, just outside of Katikati, Eddie is committed to supporting Maori communities/tribes through the next phases of the treaty settlement process. He is particularly interested in the development of governance structures that are tailored to suit the unique complexities of Maori communities seeking to develop their assets through Maori business.
His understanding of tikanga Maori combined with extensive commercial law experience provides Maori groups with a facilitator who is truly able to understand their needs, maximising results while retaining community values.
Eddie is an active rugby fan, acting as honorary solicitor for the Waitemata Rugby Club and managing and playing for the Buffalo Rugby Team. Along with rugby, Eddie is a keen fisherman and enjoys water sports and travel.
He is committed to giving back to the local community through his volunteer work at Citizens Advice Bureau and to his hometown marae.
