As a family lawyer, Ellen works with all family law matters – all issues in regards to child custody and care of children, relationship property, guardianship disputesdomestic violence, adoption, wills, powers of attorney and applications under the protection of personal & property rights.

Ellen is also experienced in assisting clients to navigate and achieve positive results using the Family Court's new Family Dispute Resolution system.

Ellen has a conjoint degree in law and arts majoring in psychology from the University of Auckland. She joined Smith and Partners in 2012 and has gone on to lead our family law team.  Drawn to the opportunity to help people, Ellen aims to focus on ensuring that her clients understand all the legal issues involved and what options they have for their particular circumstances.

Mature beyond her years, Ellen’s work as a nanny has enabled her to have a sound understanding of difficult family dynamics and real life problems.  When working with Ellen, clients will find an excellent listener with an empathetic ear who can drive down to the heart of the issue, and help clients discover the best route to achieve the best possible outcome.

Ellen is passionate traveller and follower of sports, from cricket to rugby and league and is often found out running herself.  Other times she’ll be found cooking for family or friends.  Ellen is a member of the Future Leaders of West Auckland, the Auckland District Law Society Family Law Committee and Auckland Young Lawyers.
