Ruth Gregory
To work in Family Law you have to have empathy, insight and the ability to quickly identify the legal and practical issues from complex family and financial situations. And then act to solve them strategically and creatively.
Ruth demonstrates all these things to her clients as she provides expert and sensitive guidance and strong courtroom and negotiation skills. Her objective is to optimize the outcomes for individuals and families as they navigate through significant and personal matters.
With her calm, clear and decisive manner, Ruth plays a key role in the Family Law team at Smith and Partners, offering her 5+ years’ specialised family experience, and her previous background in property, to a wide range of technical and difficult circumstances.
Ruth was a Piha bach kid, growing up with the wild west beaches. She enjoys sharing her love of the west with her three boys and while being a senior member of the Smith and Partners team as well as a Mum, she believes it is vital to give back to her community. She is committed to maintaining a small legal aid practice and regular pro bono work to ensure the whole community can access the highest quality legal advice. She is also involved in her local school and Karekare Surf Club, is a past president and ongoing supporter of Waiatarua Playcentre, and is proud that Smith and Partners are the Honorary Solicitors for Te Akoranga Playcentre Association.
Ruth is a member of the Family Law Section of the New Zealand Law Society.
