Carolyn Ranson Appointed as Partner

Posted on 14/05/2018 by Smith and Partners

We are pleased to announce Carolyn Ranson has been appointed as a partner, effective from May 14, 2018. The promotion strengthens one of the firm’s core practice areas; litigation.

Carolyn leads the rapidly growing litigation practice here at Smith and Partners, and her appointment to Partner comes hot on the tail of several new additions to the litigation team. Intermediate lawyers, Pauleen Clark and Diana Su-Tanielu joined in late 2017, followed by experienced Canadian litigator Alana Kalinowski earlier this month. The litigation department will be further strengthened when senior litigation lawyer, Rachael Chandra, joins the firm at the end of May.

Carolyn graduated from the University of London in 1996, and went on to practice both as in-house counsel and in private practice before joining Smith and Partners in 2011 as a senior solicitor.

In addition to leading the litigation department, Carolyn has been a senior member of the firm’s Management Team since 2014. Her own practice focuses on employment law and estate litigation and elder law.

“Carolyn has been an extremely valuable member of our team for over seven years. She is not only an extremely skilled lawyer, but a great strategic thinker and excellent leader who has been an integral part of the continued growth of firm”, said founding Partner, Peter Smith. “We are delighted to welcome Carolyn to the partnership and look forward to many more successful years working together.”
