Community Involvement

At Smith and Partners Lawyers we put back into the community in a number of ways; volunteering in a number of organisations; offering our time to mentoring groups and working with community boards; schools and sporting clubs. We have made it our social obligation to ensure that the West Auckland community strengthens and grows building a better tomorrow. While we have supported a wide range of groups and events over the years (everything from the now-defunct Waitakere Festival through to the 25 organisations we donated to for our 25 year anniversary – 25 for 25, and our annual Christmas donation which has included Women’s Refuge and The Rangitira (children’s) Ward at Waitakere Hospital) the below reflects our current sponsorship commitments.

Education

Smith and Partners Law Scholarships

The Smith and Partners Law Scholarships are awarded annually to students from West Auckland secondary schools to assist them to pay their first year of fees towards a New Zealand university law degree. There are main prizes of $3500 and $500, and each finalist receives a $50 book voucher. Learn more here or visit the Smith and Partners Law Scholarship Facebook page.

West Auckland’s schools

are the lifeblood of our community, and with 22% of Auckland’s population aged 15 or under, we see support of these groups as one of the biggest contributions we can make. We support a variety of schools around West Auckland and provide pro bono legal advice to Te Akoranga Playcentre Association; Smith & Partners are delighted to back West Auckland schools

West Auckland Business

Smith and Partners founded the Future Leaders of West Auckland networking group for young West Auckland professionals. Smith and Partners are also joint sponsors (with RBA) of the Westpac Auckland Business Awards – West – in the Excellence in Strategy and Planning category.

Citizen’s Advice Bureau

People within our community don’t always have the resources to engage a lawyer. By providing free legal advice at the Henderson and Massey Citizens Advice Bureaus, we help ensure that all members of our community can have access to legal advice when they need it.

Community Groups

Whether it’s grassroots organisations providing for local needs, like Rotary, Lions Clubs and Waitakere RSA, or being the solicitor for the Kumeu Agricultural and Horticultural Society, Smith & Partners’ support of these groups helps ensure the place we live and work is best it can be.
